General Information - Selling Points

What is the single most important feature of the Timely frame that allows it to outperform hollow metal when properly installed?
The way it anchors to the wall every 11", pulling the frame in dead shear with the wall, gives the frame incredible integrity.

If a customer wants to put our frame over a glass block, what is actual weight bearing?
500 lbs. on 20 gauge. No impairment of latching. On "Static Load Test".

How thick are the gauges of steel we offer?
18 gauge = .0478
20 gauge = .034

What are the two basic selling points other than price when competing against traditional hollow metal frames?
1. Timely frames are Prefinished
2. Anchorage

What is the biggest sales advantage of a factory finished frame?
A substantial savings over jobsite painting. In many cases, jobsite painting and the additional labor of a field painted frame could be $20.00 to $40.00 per opening. The advantage of being able to install our frame over a painted wall eliminates the need for a painter to: Prime coat the frame, finish coat the frame and the need to cut in against a flat wall.

What two features make our upright sets reversible?
Our uprights are reversible because the hardware locations are equal distance from each end. Also, because our uprights are cut square top and bottom rather than mitered they can be turned end over end.

Name two basic product differences between us and the competition who use an applied after casing?
As the originator of the concept of an applied after casing under our original company, American Rediframe, a method of piercing and curling tabs was our original idea. After the company was sold, the first thing we knew we wanted to change was that very ineffective method of applying casing. Timely now uses a case hardened clip which essentially has three layers. The top layer is zinc, which is a nonferrous protection against rust supported by an extremely hard surface which allows it to act as a lubricant between the clip and the moulding. This patented clip also offers the almost unlimited opportunities to use a variety of trim features, such as some of our PVC, aluminum and steel casings. The other major difference is, instead of an ordinary electro-statically applied paint, we use a state-of-the-art coil coating system which lays a layer of polyester paint onto the frame putting it years ahead of the ordinary painting systems. Our adjustable frame, of course, is powder coated with a polyester or polyurethane base for the maximum available protection against the elements when used in an exterior location.

According to our testing, how does a 20 gauge Timely frame compare to a hollow metal frame, when comparing total static load capability and at what weight did failure occur?
The following was indicated:
18 GA. Hollow Metal w/Steel Studs = 280 lbs. plus door weight
18 GA. Hollow Metal w/Wood Studs = 250 lbs. plus door weight
16 GA. Hollow Metal w/Steel Studs = 205 lbs. plus door weight
16 GA. Hollow Metal w/Wood Studs = 254 lbs. plus door weight
20 GA. Timely w/Steel Studs = 500 lbs. plus door weight
Thus providing Timely far superior load bearing capability. This is the answer to "how heavy a door can be hung in a Timely frame".

What is the maximum tested static door load achieved by our 20 gauge frame?
The maximum tested static door load achieved by our 20 gauge frame is 500 lbs. plus door weight. We feel positive that more weight could have been applied, but the scale used was limited to 500 lbs. Our tests showed that we far exceeded hollow metal frames under similar conditions.

What makes our hinge emboss so strong?
Because we emboss and then apply our TA-11, 14 gauge hinge reinforcement plate behind the emboss, when you apply the hinge screws go through the frame then into the bracket, compared to a cutout where the hinge screws go directly from hinge to bracket.

What special advantages does Timely, with its unique patented clip, offer the architect or designer?
Almost unlimited possibilities to meet esthetic requirements by choosing casing finishes or profiles and matching them with a variety of frame finishes.
